I uncovered a green snake last week a few yards from the vineyard in a pile of rubble I’ve been slowly
moving to make a mountain for the goats and sheep to climb. The snake was beautiful, solid green to olive green to
brown with no design markings. It was three or four feet long all curled around on top of itself in several circles.
Depth-wise the space it took up was less than an inch. I considered replacing the boulder but thought I might smash
it to death. I walked closer to its small head about an inch or two long, its black forked tongue was going in and
out slowly. After a while it slithered away into the vineyard. I am so happy to have a such a snake living in the
vineyard! I’ve seen the shed skins of gopher snakes there and a live one too. Now I want make a snake habitat area. |
